Available Checks¶
The VettingGateway Marketplace is a centralized location to purchase all sorts of different referencing checks and bundles. The following documentation will explain a little more about the items that you can purchase through the marketplace and what they might be used for.
Credits¶
SMS credits¶
Available in bundles of 1000 or 250, SMS credits are used to send SMS messages to applicants - one credit is used to send one SMS message.
Transactional Checks¶
Depending on the referencing requirement, it may be necessary to carry out some extra checks on your applicants. At VettingGateway we have made it easier than ever to carry out these additional checks directly within our online platform. The following section will outline the checks that can be carried out and how you can use them.
Adverse Financial Check¶
Checks publicly available data to reveal any adverse information, including: 6 million County Court Judgments (CCJs), bankruptcies, Voluntary Arrangements, decrees in Scotland and administration orders (this search will be at current and previous addresses) Checks for detrimental data at addresses that are linked to the current address provided by the applicant. These addresses may not have been disclosed by the applicant. If you wish to conduct an Adverse Financial Check on an applicant, the following may help:
- Create a new profile for an applicant via the 'New Check' Button displayed at the top right of VettingGateway platform, then from the dropdown menu select “Transactional checks”. Select the Adverse Financial Check credit. Lastly, just select the method in which you would like to conduct the check and then send the invite or start completing the profile.
- Once the applicant has submitted the profile or sufficient information has been provided on the profile manually, you will then need to perform the check. On the profile under the 'Checks' Section, select the relevant check and click 'Perform Check'. Providing that all information has been entered correct and none of the required information is missing the check will now be underway.
- At this point the request will have been sent to our 3rd party service and there is nothing else for you to do.
- You will be notified via the Task system once the Adverse Financial Check has been returned.
- Finally, you will have the option to approve or reject the Adverse Financial Check.

DBS Check¶
A DBS Check credit allows you to obtain an applicants criminal record from the United Kingdom. A Basic UK CRC lists all unspent criminal convictions for your applicant. We will determine which government agency should provide their record based on where your applicant will be working.
Directorship Check¶
Conduct a Directorship check to indicate if an applicant holds any current or previous directorships or is currently disqualified. This check may only be used in relation to an applicant who lives (or who has previously lived) in the UK.
DVLA Check¶
Conduct this check which secures confirmation from the DVLA of the person’s licence validity and details of any endorsements. This check may only be used in relation to an applicant who lives (or who has previously lived) in the UK.
FCA Check¶
Conduct a search of the FCA database for the person’s name, status, FCA reference number, controlled functions, current employer name and start date, as well as any previous employers where the person worked in a controlled function, with start and end dates. The details and dates of any disciplinary action taken through the FCA are also listed in the search results. This check may only be used in relation to an applicant who lives (or who has previously lived) in the UK.
GSAT¶
A GSAT Credit provides access for 1 applicant to complete their General Security Awareness Training online using our accredited partners.
Identity Check¶
Conduct an identity check on your applicant to provide a score to indicate the degree of confidence in an individual’s identity. It provides you with the confidence that the candidate you are dealing with is who they say they are. It will compare your applicants details against records held in both public and private databases including the electoral register. This check may only be used in relation to an applicant who lives (or who has previously lived) in the UK.
Sanction Check¶
Conduct a check for sanctions, enforcements and warnings in the UK and worldwide. The search includes individuals known or suspected to be affiliated with terrorism, money laundering, fraudsters, drug trafficking, arms dealing, war crimes, white collar fraud or other illegal activities, as well as Politically Exposed Persons (PEP's). This check may only be used in relation to an applicant who lives (or who has previously lived) in the UK.

UK Aviation Referencing¶
Here at VettingGateway we have some talented recruitment and referencing specialists that know some of the commonly required Vetting formats across many different industries. One such industry is aviation, and thus we have our selection of UK Aviation References.
UK Aviation 1¶
Conduct a 5 year background check to UK Aviation standards. This bundle will identify gaps in an applicants whereabouts of 28 days or more and identify any Criminal Record certificates that are required for the 5 year period.
UK Aviation 2¶
Conduct a 5 year background check to UK Aviation standards and obtain a UK Basic Criminal Record Check Certificate. This bundle will identify gaps in an applicants whereabouts of 28 days or more and identify any Criminal Record certificates that are required for the 5 year period. Includes a credit to obtain 1 Basic UK DBS Certificate.
UK Aviation 3¶
Conduct a 5 year background check to UK Aviation standards and access to GSAT e-learning. VettingGateway will support you in providing an applicant with access to accredited GSAT e-learning once the applicant has reached a suitable level of background checks. Upon completion of their training, you will automatically receive a PDF copy of their certificate.
UK Aviation 4¶
Conduct a 5 year background check to UK Aviation standards, with a UK Basic DBS Certificate and access to GSAT e-learning. Includes a credit to obtain 1 UK DBS Certificate, and access to accredited online GSAT e-learning.
LHR Aviation Renewal¶
Conduct an Aviation renewal check to Heathrow standards which includes a 1 year background check, UK Basic Criminal Record Check Certificate, and access to GSAT e-learning. This bundle is suitable if you would like to renew an airside pass at Heathrow Airport.
UK Aviation Renewal¶
Conduct an Aviation renewal check which includes a UK Basic Criminal Record Check Certificate and access to GSAT e-learning. This bundle is suitable if you would like to renew an airside pass.
Security Referencing¶
Conduct background referencing to security standards with bundled credits for enhanced vetting.
BPSS¶
Conduct a 3 year background check in line with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard including a UK Basic Criminal Record Check Certificate, and Identity Check.
BS7858¶
Conduct a 5 year background check to BS7858 standards which includes a 5 year background check, a UK Basic Criminal Record Check Certificate, Adverse Financial Credit Check, Sanctions Check, and Identity Check only.
General Vetting¶
Conduct background referencing to general standards. These referencing checks are free of charge and can be used at your discretion.
General Vetting 1¶
Conduct a 1 year background check, suitable for most industries. Upon completion of the referencing you will receive a PDF copy of their references.
General Vetting 2¶
Conduct a 3 year background check, suitable for most industries. Upon completion of the referencing you will receive a PDF copy of their references.
